徐老師團隊也展示了利用 OMOP-CDM 進行的研究成果:「Cardiovascular Effects of SGLT2 Inhibitors in Advanced CKD」。
[Attending the 2025 OHDSI Europe Symposium | In-Depth Insights into Health Data Standardization and Policy Developments in Europe]
In July 2025, Professor Jason C. Hsu represented the OHDSI Taiwan Society at the OHDSI Europe Symposium held in Hasselt, Belgium. Hosted in a historic site now transformed into classrooms at Hasselt University, the three-day event featured hands-on training, academic exchanges, and high-level policy discussions—offering a comprehensive view of Europe’s coordinated efforts in health data standardization and interdisciplinary collaboration.
📌 Pre-Symposium Workshops
Focused on OMOP-CDM data standardization, ETL workflows, and hands-on practice with OHDSI tools such as ATLAS. Beyond technical training, the sessions reinforced the core values of open science and global collaboration.
📌 Main Conference Talks
Centered on the theme “Global Collaboration, Local Implementation.” Highlights included the UK’s integration of Study-a-thons into NHS operations, Finland’s exploration of Swarm Learning combining AI and federated methods, and the UK’s national AMR project that bridges public policy and real-world data—demonstrating the maturity of cross-sector implementation across Europe.
📌 Poster Showcase
Posters covered diverse topics ranging from data governance and methodological innovation to clinical applications—reflecting the depth and breadth of research across the OHDSI community. Professor Hsu’s team also presented their study: “Cardiovascular Effects of SGLT2 Inhibitors in Advanced CKD: A Real-World Cohort Study Using OHDSI-OMOP-CDM.”
📌 Focus Forum
The high-level forum “Bridging Policy and Practice: OHDSI’s Role in the European Health Data Space” brought together leaders from the EMA, Belgium’s Ministry of Health, Erasmus MC, and Johnson & Johnson. Discussions addressed how to enable health data flow across borders while safeguarding privacy and public trust. Key concepts included Federated Analysis, Data Quality Accountability, Public-Private Partnership, and EHDS Readiness. For Taiwan to participate or align with EHDS in the future, groundwork in legal, technical, ethical, and governance domains must begin now.
The 2025 OHDSI Europe Symposium offered rich insights and new opportunities for international cooperation. OHDSI Taiwan will continue leveraging global resources and strengthening local implementation—advancing Taiwan’s role in the global real-world data ecosystem.
